Introduction:
Games have consistently demonstrated their capability to serve as dynamic tools for learning, engaging and motivating learners across various ages. The advent of digital games has significantly transformed educational landscapes; nonetheless, traditional board games remn a robust medium for fostering knowledge acquisition, skills development, and social interaction.
The MBGTOTEACH framework provide educators with an accessible guide and ongoing process for integrating modern board games into their teaching practices. This innovative approach seeks to capitalize on the unique potential of these games in building interactive learning experiences that are both fun and educational.
:
To validate the effectiveness of the MBGTOTEACH framework, we conducted two workshops specifically designed to introduce educators to this concept and enable them to experiment with modern board games for educational purposes.
Results:
The workshops revealed significant increases in teachers' awareness regarding the potential impact of game-based learning strategies and their understanding of design characteristics intrinsic to modern board games. Participants recognized how these games could be adapted and utilized effectively in diverse educational contexts, thus enhancing students' engagement and comprehension.
However, preliminary feedback indicated that some educators might require a more comprehensive background in game culture and experience with gameplay mechanics to fully leverage the MBGTOTEACH framework's potential.
:
Despite recognizing the initial challenges, our findings underscore the feasibility of modifying and developing new learning-based games from modern board games using the MBGTOTEACH framework. The iterative process of identifying, adapting, or even designing games based on educators' specific pedagogical needs remns pivotal for the successful implementation of game-based learning strategies.
Implications:
The MBGTOTEACH framework not only introduces a systematic approach to integrating modern board games into educational settings but also serves as a catalyst for ongoing innovation in teaching methodologies. By fostering an environment where educators can experiment, adapt, and create bespoke learning experiences based on these games, we m to enhance the overall quality of education while preserving its fundamental goals.
Future Directions:
The framework's success necessitates further research on refining of integrating modern board games into educational contexts across different disciplines, scales, and cultural backgrounds. Future iterations could focus on enhancing teachers' capabilities in designing and modifying games tlored to specific learning objectives, thereby maximizing the benefits for diverse student populations.
:
In , the MBGTOTEACH framework is a strategic guide that empowers educators to harness the transformative potential of modern board games as powerful tools for enhancing educational experiences. Through our workshops with teachers, we have observed promising outcomes in terms of awareness and capability development but also identified areas needing further support and refinement for effective integration into classroom practices.
Acknowledgements:
We would like to express gratitude to all participants who generously shared their insights and experiences during the workshops. Their engagement significantly enriched the learning environment and provided invaluable feedback that will inform future improvements and adaptations of the MBGTOTEACH framework.
