In a special exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum, recent discoveries about China's tumultuous transition from the Han dynasty 206–220 to the Three Kingdoms period 220–280 are being unveiled. The collapse of the Han dynasty towards the of the second century initiated an exted struggle for power among relentless military leaders. As a result, China was divided into three kingdoms referred to as Wei, Shu, and Wu - a major historical event leading to a new era in Chinese history. Over recent years, research on this period has been revitalized by excavations at the Cao Cao Mausoleum. The artifacts unearthed offer their own narrative of the events, presenting an unprecedentedly transparent version that surpasses existing written accounts.
This exhibition will run until September 16, 2019. For more information on this event, please visit the Tokyo National Museum's official website.
